Audi Q5 vs BMW X3 vs Mercedes Benz GLC 300

The Audi Q5 Crossover Takes on the Luxury Competition

In the world of SUVs, there are a large number of shopping options available for Baton Rouge drivers to consider. But, when your tastes are distinct, and your personality and driving desires tend to be more high end, the pool of SUV options gets much smaller.

At Audi Baton Rouge, we're proud to bring our customers a large selection of incredible, luxury SUVs to browse, test drive, and take home. Our Audi SUVs and crossover offer Louisiana drivers the style and capabilities of an SUV that they want, but the world-class caliber and innovative engineering only Audi can produce.

The five-passenger, two-row Audi Q5 is one of our most popular models, and a great vehicle for families of varying sizes in the Baton Rouge area. It has legendary Audi quality and style woven throughout the vehicle, and it comes with the latest in tech and safety features our customers want.

But, as wonderful as it is, the Audi Q5 is not alone in the two-row, luxury crossover market. It has some competition from other well-known brands, including Mercedes-Benz and BMW. To see how it stacks up when compared to similar models from those brand names, check out the side-by-side comparisons we've put together for you. We hope it helps the next time you're torn between an Audi and another luxury brand.

The Audi Q5 SUV vs. the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 SUV

  • Power and performance. The Audi SUV is equipped with one engine across its entire model lineup. A nice and responsive inline four, this fun-to-drive SUV is rated for an exciting 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, which is more power than you'll get in a Mercedes-Benz GLC 300. In fact, this competing model comes equipped with a similar inline four engine, but it only gives you 241 horsepower, with the same amount of torque.
  • All-wheel drive. Drivers who shop for an SUV-style of vehicle typically want that model equipped with the added safety, security, and ruggedness of all-wheel drive. With the Audi Q5, you get that standard across all models. Audi calls their state-of-the-art all-wheel drive system Quattro, and it's standard equipment for the Q5. But, the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300, on the other hand, is a rear-wheel drive vehicle. All-wheel drive is an additional option that drivers have to request specifically.
  • Passenger space. The Audi Q5 is also more mindful of yours, and your passengers', comfort than the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300. The Audi SUV has more headroom and more legroom than the Mercedes-Benz model, in both the front and the backseats.
  • Standard safety features. While both models have many advanced, innovative technologies to improve your safety behind the wheel, the Audi Q5 gives you many of them as standard equipment across all trim levels, while the Mercedes-Benz forces you to order special packages in order to get them.

The Audi Q5 vs. the BMW X3

  • Standard engine power. As mentioned above, the Audi Q5 SUV's standard inline four engine puts out a nice 252 horsepower, which is more than the Mercedes-Benz SUV. But, it's also more than the BMW X3 SUV, which is also powered by an inline four, but earns a rating of 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque instead.
  • Passenger comfort. With more headroom, legroom, and shoulder room, the Audi Q5 is more spacious than the BMW X3. Whether in the front or the backseats, you'll get more room to spread out in an Audi Q5 than you would in the BMW competition.
  • Features. While both of these luxury SUVs are similarly equipped when it comes to tech, convenience, and safety features, the Audi Q5 offers a bit more than the BMW. For example, standard for the Audi Q5 is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, while the BMW X3 has Android Auto missing from its list of standard equipment and doesn't even offer it as an option. Also, the Audi Q5 comes with standard auto emergency braking, which can recognize both pedestrians and other vehicles at speeds up to 52 mph. Drivers choosing the X3 don't get this safety feature standard but can add it on with an optional package.
  • Customization options. There are more ways to customize the Audi Q5 and make it exactly how you want it, than there are for the BMW SUV. There are three trim levels, which help drivers choose the model and level of features they want, and there are several available packages. The BMW, on the other hand, only comes in two trim levels, one of which is a high-performance variant with the special M badge, and the higher price tag associated with it.

For example, the Q5 gets standard automatic emergency braking for both vehicles and pedestrians, for speeds up to 52 mph. But, in order to get automatic emergency braking on the GLC 300, drivers have to specially order a Driver Assistance package that gives them extra features.
